Best news ever! Fat Freddy’s Drop bring their euphoric live show back to Australia to rock Autumn 2025.
As the band celebrate their new album SLO MO, every show will be different.
The SLO MO Tour hits all major cities in March, playing Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Festival Hall in Melbourne and Fremantle Arts Centre in Perth.
Fresh off the back of 37 shows in Europe, Freddys will be match-fit and armed with a brand new setlist to light up the party. With ‘SLO MO’ album release flying high, the tour will hit the sweet spot for Freddy’s fans who’ve been waiting for Australian headline shows since 2020.
“SLO MO is the strongest studio representation yet of a Freddy’s live show”, says saxophonist Chopper Reeds. “It captures the undefinable Freddy’s sound. Usually we take the stage to the studio and this time, we’re excited about taking our studio creation onto the stage.”
First single release from the album Next Stop is out now, a soul-soaked summer scorcher, feat. toastmaster MC Slave on the mic.
Hit the ground running, our new album ‘SLO MO’, is out now. A bass-heavy blast across nine tracks. Internationally regarded as one of the world’s finest live draws, Fat Freddy’s Drop hail from New Zealand, South Pacific.
Founded in the club scene in Wellington in 1999, Freddys sound draws inspiration from almost every part of the black music lexicon. Soul drenched vocals and jazz harmonies collide with tape delays and echo chambers, underpinned by a rhythm section as comfortable laying down a throbbing, techy soundscape as they are a swampy blues stomp.
It’s a sound that demands to be heard live, a potent mixture of virtuosity and diaphragm-wrecking digital sonics.
Recent album release, WAIRUNGA bush-alchemy live concert album, digging deep in an outdoor performance sans audience with wild weather elements playing an important creative role.
The project follows the success of the ‘LOCK-IN’ album and concert film released in 2020, a sonic jam session featuring eight tracks inc ‘Avengers’ new track in the making.
Fat Freddy’s Drop are DJ Fitchie aka Chris Faiumu – MPC, Producer, Joe Dukie aka Dallas Tamaira – Vocals, Dobie Blaze aka Iain Gordon – Keyboard, Chopper Reeds aka Scott Towers – Saxophone, Tony Chang aka Toby Laing – Trumpet, Hopepa aka Joe Lindsay – Trombone, C-Way Green aka Conway Jeune – Guitar and MC Slave aka Mark Williams.
